Those that learned "M.R.C. (Mathematics with reading comprehension)" from first grade scored over 17 points higher than the prefectural average on the prefectural mathematics test.

What has changed the most since your school introduced Tamaishiki?

In M.R.C. he students are no longer uncomfortable with long problem-solving passages, but rather are interested in thinking about them while willingly trying to formulate solutions by themselves. In the KIWAMI Shapes course, students are exposed to a lot of challenging geometric problems that are not found in regular textbooks, which helps them to not give up on difficult problems. The sense of accomplishment from solving difficult problems gives students the motivation and ability to plan and move things forward.

What has improved since the materials were introduced into your classroom?

While the prefectural average score has been decreasing from 86.7 to 76.8 in the prefectural math test for 3rd graders since 2014, our school's average score has been increacing 91.9 to 93.9. Those that learned "M.R.C.", from their first grade scored over 17 points higher than the prefectural average on the prefectural mathematics test. At our school, we have a pair-study system (2 students in one team) that works for one hour using video materials and one hour focusing on the handouts named "Did you get it?" in the "M.R.C." study. We recognize that these results were achieved by uaing the effective learning materials with precise coaching. In addition, our findings show that our students are no longer uncomfortable with long passages and have developed the ability to picture the overall structure of the story. This fosters an attitude to continue learning without losing interest. As such, the Ultimate Shapes course which starts in fourth grade, has had an increase in students who can progress more at their own pace. Our school has begun to move away from textbook-based math to a new math class that blends the textbook with Tamaishiki materials.

"The students who understand the lessons support the ones who don't.
I feel that the students are gaining more confidence."

What has changed the most since your school introduced Tamaishiki?

We introduced Tamaishiki from the very beginning of the after-school care program, so we aren't sure of the difference from before and after the introduction; however, the reason why we introduced Tamaishiki was so that children could spend long hours balancing study and relaxation. By learning with Tamaishiki, they are able to set aside time to enjoy learning.
Other specific changes are;
・ Their motivativation for study raised,
・ They study more proactively,
・ Children from first to fourth grades share the world of the Catdog Kingdom together. The environment creates the students who understood teach to those who didn't. Through the relationship of teaching and being taught, children become more accepting of one another, which seems to build confidence.
・ Student became frequent readers.

What has improved since the materials were introduced into your classroom?

M.R.C.
・ "What will happen to the rest of the story?" The first graders looked forward to watching the next video, while the second and third graders were no longer afraid of reading long passages and try them proactively.
Ultimate Shapes
・ Once they started learning Ultimate Shapes, they were able to work on the long word problems in the M.R.C. independently. In addition, there were fewer calculations and reading errors from the students, and they have started to work harder on problems.
・ They are highly motivated to move up to the next level, so they don't easily give up on difficult problems.
・ Every time they overcame a difficult problem and moved up a Ievel, they bult up more confident.
